2023 Is in full swing and I'm looking back at a great start of the season. Lots of hours on the water, competed in two world cups and been having a great time with the team. The first world cup was in Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is the place where, for most sailers, every year the competition season kicks off. And since two years also for us kitefoilers. The boulevard between the harbors of Ca’n Pastilla and S’Arenal changes into a sailing village. On the water you see all the Olympic classes sailing together, passing eachother, and in every restaurant you come across sailers from all different nationalities. After a long winter everyone is excited to see where they are at, especially this year, the first year in which we can qualify for the Olympic games.

My last competition before Mallorca was a long time ago, since I got sick and missed the Worlds in October. This made it extra exciting to be back on the racing and see where I was compared to the others. I ended up with an 8th place at both the worldcup in Mallorca and in Hyères. With some highlights like winning a semi final in the medal series in Mallorca.

The new kitefoil coach from team Allianz, Federico, stepped in to help me out since Casper couldn't make it to these events. From the first race the collaboration felt really good and it gives a lot of confidence to know that we make a really strong team all together.

  • Next up: the Allianz Regatta, from may 31 - june 4, in Lelystad. Follow the event and results on www.allianzregatta.org
  • Less than 3 months until the first Olympic qualifier; the World Championships in Scheveningen, August 10-20
