About Annelous


1993

Born 1st of November 1993. Annelous grew up in Zeeland, in the South West of the Netherlands with her two brothers and two sisters. Always outside, always playing sports and always competing with her siblings.

2009

Annelous started kiteboarding in the summer of 2009 and she has been incredibly passionate since day 1. Every windy day she would cycle 17 kilometers to the Brouwersdam to go for a kite session. She got her first sponsorship from the kiteshop Natural high and also started working there. Saving as much money as possible to escape the Dutch winter. Fun fact, every windy day she got to spend at least one hour on the water in between working. 🌊

2012

In 2012 Annelous became European Freestyle Champion and after another year competing on the European Tour and becoming vice European Champion 2013 she decided to focus on the world championships.

2014 - 2015

Several podia place at the freestyle world cups and ended 4th place in the overall ranking of the World Championship tour. In an attempt to win some extra prize money she decided to also compete in the discipline slalom and became vice world champion slalom in 2014. In 2015 Annelous became Dutch Champion freestyle kitesurfing. 🇳🇱

2016

In 2016 she decided to focus on a new discipline, Park Riding. She managed to win the video wildcard to the biggest park riding event, the Triple S invitational. Later that year she won her first Kite Park League event, the Hood Jam.

2017

In 2017, she won two out of the 4 events from the Kite Park League, the park riding world tour, and became the 2017 KPL Champion. ⚡️

2019

In 2019, Annelous managed to make her biggest dream from the past years come true, winning the 2019 Triple S Invitational, the biggest KPL event, and this year even bigger than before with 70,000$ in prize money and equal pay for men and women. She also won the last tourstop making her KPL world tour champion for the second time. 🏆

2020

The Covid pandemic and the travel restrictions gave Annelous the time and opportunity to join trainings of the KiteFoil TeamNL. The progression went fast and by the end of the year she joined the national selection, and is now fully commited to chase her Olympic dream.

2022

7th place at the World Cup in Mallorca, Spain, and 1st place at the World Cup in Lelystad, the Netherlands.

2023

In August the World Championships and Olympic qualification took place at Annelous' new homespot Scheveningen, from August 10-20. The top 8 nations received their ticket for the Olympic games. Annelous ended up 6th place and 4th Nation, securing her Olympic ticket at the first oppurtunity. It's official - WE'RE GOING TO THE OLYMPICS.

2024

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from 26 July to 11 August. The Sailling classes will take place in Marseille. 🇫🇷 Kitefoiling will take place August 4-8.
